Here we are going to talk about HD, There are three types EIDE, Serial ATA and SCSI and they can be installed in two ways internal and external, But we will only be talking about the two most popular types and we will be installing are drives internaly so lets get started .

Lets start with EIDE or ( Ultra ATA ) there the #1 most popular drives, They come in three data speeds ATA-66, 100 and 133 disk speed is 7200-RPM, They can be installed in pairs or as a single drive. If you are going with a single drive there is nothing to do, But if you are going with two drives then you will need to set the jumpers, The proper jumper settings will be in the instruction booklet or printed on the drive. One drive will need to be set as ( Master ) and the other as ( Slave ).

Now it is time to talk about Serial ATA this type of drive is new and the data speed is ATA-150 the disk speed is 7200-RPM, But the Western Digital Raptor 36GB dose 10,000-RPM it is the fastest, And these drives do not connect to the IDE they need to connect to Port-0 and Port-1.
